In the early 1990s, Mr. James Wong, Chairman of the Board of Directors (BOD) and CEO of ZWIE, graduated from university and began his management career in Hong Kong. He keenly observed the growing demand in modern society for internationally competitive and versatile talents. This observation sparked an educational vision within him: to gather global educational wisdom and nurture future leaders for China. In 2003, he returned to mainland China to explore and pioneer a new era of holistic education.

Chairman's Message >
Chairman's Message

Looking at the present, we are in the most opportune era for educational development in China in over a century.

The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and China's peaceful rise demand the development of talent that meets the needs of this era. At the same time, this era may be the most challenging in human history. Emerging technologies are causing unprecedented disruptions to traditional industries and human lifestyles. Big data, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and quantum technology introduce significant uncertainties to the development of this era, with knowledge evolving at an exponential rate.

In this era, the rise of a great nation requires cultivating a new generation of talent with a Chinese identity and global perspective, equipped with scientific knowledge and a humanistic spirit. These individuals should be able to shoulder the responsibilities of global cooperation and governance. They should contribute to making the world a better, more civilized, and more progressive place by using universally accepted languages and fostering cross-cultural understanding and inclusiveness.

By employing globally recognized educational standards and wisdom, we aim to create a new era holistic education ecosystem. We provide optimal, personalized growth solutions for children aged 0-18, helping more Chinese families find the most suitable education for their children. Our goal is for every child to become the best version of themselves, achieving the vision of "tailoring education to the child and harmonizing the world in diversity.

This is the core mission, vision, and aspiration of ZWIE in education.

Having taught at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, both at home and abroad, he has accumulated a wealth of pedagogical experience, which proved to be an invaluable foundation for his subsequent career in educational administration. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of New South Wales (Australia), an exchange lecturer at Auckland UNITEC (New Zealand), a professor, department head, and dean at domestic universities, and a senior official at the New Zealand Ministry of Education (MOE), Department of Labour (DOL), New Zealand, and Deputy Principal of the New Zealand Institute of Education. Currently, as a seasoned international education expert, Mr. Tsui serves as a Director, Honorary General Principal, Chairman of the Academic Board of ZWIE, and Principal of ZWIE Academy, leading ZWIE Education's continuous innovation and development with outstanding leadership and a forward-thinking educational philosophy.

As the representative of the ZWIE Board of Directors, Mr. Tsui is fully responsible for the Group's academic leadership, educational research, and faculty training. He is the chief architect of ZWIE's Sino-International holistic education curriculum system. Represented by the ZWIE Integration Curriculum, it integrates the best of Chinese traditional culture and advanced international educational concepts, building a pioneering, leading, and exemplary ZWIE characteristic curriculum system. This system not only achieved the diversified transition of ZWIE's educational services but also provided valuable experience for China's basic education reform and development. Rooted in Chinese culture and integrating global wisdom, ZWIE's international education is now widely recognized in the industry, becoming a leader in holistic education that integrates the essence of global education.

As the Founding Chair of the Chong Wa International Baccalaureate Schools Association (CISA), Mr. Tsui led ZWIE Education Group and other outstanding domestic international schools to complete the "Integration Curriculum Guide" for IB PYP early years, PYP, MYP, and national curriculum with a forward-looking vision and innovative practice. This historic breakthrough not only laid a solid foundation for the promotion and healthy development of the IB programme in Greater China but also set a benchmark for the localization and innovation of international education in China, with key milestone significance.

Speech by the Chairman of the Academic Committee:

The Board has articulated the mission, vision, and founding aspirations of ZWIE from a strategic, era-defining perspective. Looking ahead, our priority is to translate this vision into practices that are actionable, sustainable, and measurable, ensuring that educational ideals take root in classrooms, in teacher development, and in students’ daily learning.

Amid deep global educational integration and the reshaping of learning by AI, ZWIE has developed the Holistic Education Curriculum (HEC) guided by the principle of "national curriculum as the foundation, international competence as the core, and AI-era capabilities as the anchor,” aligning goals, content, pedagogy, and assessment through academic leadership.

HEC “integrates” the rigor of the national curriculum, the whole-person inquiry of IB, the practical strengths of DSE, and the cultural essence of Chinese traditions; it “creates” cross-disciplinary, cross-cultural, and real-world learning experiences, forming a replicable and scalable Sino-international framework. The curriculum centers on five domains: the ISEE inquiry framework that connects transdisciplinary and subject-specific inquiry; the Question - Inquiry – Presentation – Reflection – Action (QIPRA) model that structures classroom learning; School-Based Curriculum (SBC) that strengthens cultural identity; the English Proficiency Continuum (EPC) that builds bilingual proficiency; and the Knowledge – Skills – Action (KSA) system that evaluates knowledge, skills, and action. Implementation is supported by two pillars: Personalized Learning Support (PLS) and AI-empowered Holistic Development (AEHD).

At the instructional level, teaching shifts from lecture-based delivery to inquiry-driven learning through ISEE, QIPRA, interdisciplinary projects, and authentic tasks, cultivating critical thinking, collaborative inquiry, and creativity. Teacher development is strengthened through a professional system spanning induction, growth, and excellence, supported by learning communities, mentorship, lesson study, and AI-enabled tools. Student development is supported by personalized pathways and AI empowerment, addressing academic progress, character, interests, cultural identity, and global competence, enabling every learner to become their best self.

Transforming vision into practice and ideals into growth remains ZWIE’s enduring direction and commitment.
